Installation
Q. When enter my unlock code, it does not appear in the box. Why?
A. Check that the Register window is active by clicking on it, then enter the code, select 'unlock' then 'continue'.

Q. My unlock code operates on my computer at work but not at home. What is wrong?
A. This is correct. A single licence is provided for a given computer. You can transfer the licence between computers if you wish, but only use one copy at a time. Please consult the Readme file on the CD-ROM.

Operation
Q. I encountered "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT is not suitable for running MS-DOS & Microsoft Windows applications" error message when I tried to run the program. My computer is running Windows XP with Service Pack 2.
A. This error occurs when 3 files on your computer are corrupted (autoexec.nt, config.nt and command.com). You can easily rectify this problem by downloading a file titled XP_FIX.EXE from http://www.visualtour.com/downloads/

Q. I encountered "An internal error has occurred in File 'Unknown' line 199. Please report this error." Why?
A. Shut down the program, restart the machine and load the program again. It should work now. The error seems to happen only once.

Q. The desktop icon for my program is not displayed properly. What is wrong?
A. If you installed with either the runtime or CD-only options the CD-is required for program operation. Place the CD in the CD-ROM drive then press F5 on your keyboard to refresh the screen. The icon will appear.

Q. I have installed the program but my computer is very slow. Why might this be?
A. This is almost certainly caused by another program installed which is running in the background (i.e. "behind the scenes"). There are two known culprits - Symantec Norton Antivirus 6.0 and Adaptec DirectCD. If you have either installed they should be disabled. We would highly recommend upgrading to the latest version of your antivirus program and maintain regular updates.

Q. The video does not play (Fear Is Not An Option, Screening For Oral Cancer and The Last Post). What could be wrong?
A. There are 2 reasons why the video does not play. If your computer is running Windows 95, 97 or ME. Try the following:

  • If diagonal lines are displayed instead of the video you need to install the correct video drivers. Run the Iv5setup program in the Extras folder of the CD-ROM and follow the instructions.
  • The CD must be in the CD-ROM drive to operate the videos unless you opted for a full install.
  • If the video still does not play, locate on of the videos on the CD-ROM (in the Data\video\ folder and double-click on it. It should load and play within Media Player. If it does, but will still not play from within the main program, please contact us. If it does not there is probably a problem with your PC configuration and you should contact your supplier. If you have access to another computer, try the CD-ROM on that. If it does not work the CD may be damaged and you will require a replacement.
If your computer is running on Windows XP, unfortunately Microsoft dropped support for the video player used in these programs (we used it because it performed well and was included free with Windows).
To view the videos for these titles you might need to purchase and download the Windows XP version from Ligos corporation (http://www.ligos.com/indeo.htm). It costs $14.95 so it is under £10. We are sorry about this, but as you will appreciate it is out of our control ("Goldfingered", "Pulp Afflictions" and "Desperately Seeking Occlusion" are not affected by this).

Q. How do I find specific information?
A. Use the search button. This allows you to search for words or phrases and lists their occurrence in context.

Q. Can I have the information presented automatically, rather like watching a video?
A. Yes. Select the play button. Select it again to interact with the program.
