Webinars
- live interactive lectures on your desktop |
 |
|
 |
| |
|
Simple: you can enjoy a live
lecture from the convenience of your computer. No traveling
or time lost away from other commitments. Unlike a normal
lecture, questions may be submitted before the event as well
as during it and afterwards. Put your feet up, open the wine
and enjoy CPD with a difference!
|
| Webinars normally start at 8pm and close at
approximately 9:45pm. We ask you to log in at 7:45. |
| It's very similar to a lecture, except that
you only need to travel to your computer. Log in to the conference
room in good time and enjoy the presentation. You can see the
lecturer by the live video link and view his presentation just
as you would during a conventional lecture. Unlike a normal
lecture you can submit questions in advance, and of course
ask questions during and after the presentation using the text
chat facility. You will see all the questions asked by the
other participants, their replies and if you want ask your
own. It's that straightforward! |
| A presentation lasts for approximately 45-55
minutes, with 30 minutes or so for questions and answers. Following
completion of a short evaluation a certificate will be issued
for 2 hours of verifiable CPD. |
| A Windows PC and broadband connection. |
| See below for our confirmed schedule. Places
are limited to 25 participants so book early! All the core
subjects now recommended by the GDC are included in the schedule. |
| If you are unable to join in a live event we
have interactive recorded versions available
via our subscription
service |
A few comments from participants:
"Ability to ask questions. Ease
of access to quality speaker (without traveling to London)."
"Direct contact with speaker
and feels more personal than a lecture situation"
"Easy access from
home even on a working day, opportunity to ask questions
to a specialist and learn all the new information about
end. Potential of discussing with other participants"
"Easy to set up and use. Not have to
travel to a venue; and so enjoy in the comfort of my own
home. Able to ask colleagues to view conference together.
Able to ask questions as they came up. Good view of video
and slides as we're sitting right in front of the presentation.
Able to enjoy food and drink as presentation was going on.
"
"Encouraged to participate in topics
I would not normally chose to attend courses about - good
for broad breadth of CPD. Saves on travel time. Evenings
mean no time taken from work |

It's
a child; don't panic!
Dr
L Nutting BDS FDSRCS
Senior Lecturer, Department of Paediatric Dentistry, King's College London
Dental Institute.
Specialist Practitioner in private practice
|
|
Dr Nutting works part-time as Senior
Lecturer at King's College Dental Institute, teaching both
under and post-graduate students, and part-time in specialist
practice. |
|
1. Update knowledge
in the successful management of the child patient
2. Identify how these
may be applied in your practice
|
It is probably fair to say that
most practitioners find managing children a challenge, unless
there appears to be nothing to do. But are you sure? Children
require proper management, regardless of their dental need.
This presentation will provide an update in how to assess
the child patient, determine their needs and decide whether
or not to refer for specialist care.
If you see children in your practice, this is an ideal opportunity
to update your knowledge and submit questions about the management
of your young patients.

Building your practice – the
Patient Journey
Mr
Chris Barrow
The Dental Business School
|
|
Chris
Barrow has been coaching business
owners since 1980 and has a proven track record of working with
prominent dentists and other professionals in helping them to
create more profit in less time. Chris is a knowledgeable expert
who offers practical business logic, relevant, effective, proven
ideas and a serious depth of character. An original, independent
thinker, he is a non-conformist who continually seeks out new
horizons to explore, challenges to resolve, boundaries to push,
rules to break and odds to beat. |
|
Research shows that when an existing
patient leaves a practice, or when a new patient joins one,
their decision is often based upon their interaction with members
of your dental team, rather than concerns about the quality
of treatment.
Customer service is 98% understanding people,
2% clinical skill – you must have 100% of the 2%- but
it’s
the 98% understanding people that makes the difference between
an unsuccessful and a successful practice.
So what is “world-class customer service” in dentistry
and how do you make sure it happens?
Chris will be looking at the psychology of customer service – what
makes raving fans and saboteurs, as well as a step by step
guide to the “moments of truth” during the patient’s
visit to your practice – moments that can enroll the
patient as an unpaid member of your sales force. Also, as customer
service is delivered by every member of your sales team, Chris
will look at how to engage and train team members to maintain
your standards of customer service day after day.

“Selling” is a dirty
word in the professions – and dentistry is no exception.
Many dentists either develop a healthy dislike of all matters
relating to “sales” or consider it beneath themselves.
Those feelings are usually born from a misconception – that
all selling is a form of verbal combat between pushy, silver-tongued
sales people and unwilling victims.
It doesn’t have to be like that. Ethical selling is
a calm conversation between dentist (and treatment co-ordinator)
and patient, in which the patient does most of the talking
and feels no pressure whatsoever.
Join Chris and learn how to “do” selling in
a way that everyone involved can enjoy.
